Online Help (Windows-based)The standard help file found in most Windows-based applications. Built and compiled using the Microsoft Help compiler, the file can be attached to an application or run as a stand-alone help file. Online Help (HTML-based)Similar in appearance to Windows-based Help, except the content is written in HTML. The help file is distributed as a single .chm file and the Internet Explorer browser must be installed on the user's computer. Web HelpGenerates a cross-platform help file that will run on any Windows, Macintosh and Unix machine. Because it is HTML-based it uses the default Web browser to display the files. Java HelpDesigned to work with applications written in the JAVA programming language. The help file can be distributed as a single compressed file, or as a set of source files. |
